FreeAgent: Posting bank transactions

How to post to FreeAgent

With Equali's integration with FreeAgent, you can post a Settlement (a payout from your payment provider, e.g. Shopify Payments or Stripe) as a "Bank transaction" to FreeAgent in a few clicks. 

  • Step 1 - Set up your integrations: Make sure you've set up your integrations on Equali's dashboard on the "Integrations" page. 

  • Step 2 - Import your data: Equali automatically pulls your order, payment and settlement data from your connected eCommerce platforms and payment providers. Transactions are matched and reconciliations are performed automatically in the background. Once these processes are complete, data will become visible on the "Reconciliations" and "Financial Entries" pages on the Equali dashboard. Wait for your data to be shown, and then proceed with the next steps. 
  • Step 3 - Navigate to the "Settlements" page: On the Settlements page, you will be able to view each individual settlement from your payment providers. Using the filters at the top of the page, find the settlement you would like to post to FreeAgent, and click on it. 
  • Step 4 - Click "Post": Click the "Post" button next to the settlement you would like to post to FreeAgent as a "Bank transaction". The "Settlement Posting Summary" popup will appear. 
  • Step 5 - Prepare your post: On the "Settlement Posting Summary" popup, keep or edit your journal description, select the FreeAgent "Bank account" to which you would like to post your settlement and map the categories (Ledger Account IDs). When you've completed these steps, the "Post" button will become clickable. Click the button to review your post. 
  • Step 6 - Review and post: Check your post to ensure everything is correct, then click "Confirm". Your settlement has now been posted to FreeAgent as a "Bank transaction", with each category broken down as "Bank transaction explanations". 

Once posted, you will still be able to view your settlements in the Equali dashboard, as well as from within the FreeAgent platform, giving you auditability from order, to cash, to accounting.
